Gremio’s near-perfect prediction steals the spotlight in a mixed bag of Serie A calls
Seven fixtures, one star performance from the model, a couple of ticks, and more misses than a dodgy darts player. The model nailed Gremio’s 3-1 win with exact score precision but stumbled on some surprising results, including a 3-3 thriller that it confidently got wrong.
Today’s Serie A predictions served up a bit of everything: brilliance, near misses, and a few head-scratchers. The highlight was definitely the model’s star turn with Gremio’s 3-1 victory over Chapecoense-sc. Not only did it get the outcome right, but it also nailed the exact scoreline and even called both teams to score and the over-under correctly. That’s what we call hitting the jackpot.
Bahia’s 3-2 win against Internacional and Flamengo’s 3-0 triumph over Botafogo earned ticks for the model. It correctly predicted the winners in both cases and even spotted both teams scoring in Flamengo’s game. Close but no cigar on exact scores though — we’re not perfect, just occasionally impressive.
On the flip side, there were four misses that kept us humble. Atletico Paranaense versus Fluminense turned into a goal-fest ending 3-3, completely defying our model’s prediction of a home win without any goals for the visitors. Overconfidence might have played a part here — lesson learned.
Mirassol versus Palmeiras and Vasco DA Gama against Cruzeiro also tripped us up despite confident calls. Both matches saw unexpected outcomes that left our predictions looking like they’d been scribbled on a napkin during half-time.
In total, out of seven fixtures, we scored one star, two ticks, and four misses — not quite the clean sweep we’d hoped for but enough to keep things interesting. The model showed strength in predicting outcomes but struggled with exact scores and halftime calls today.
We’ll take the wins where we can get them and chalk up the misses as motivation to sharpen our crystal ball for next time.
