Serie A sees mixed fortunes as Fipster chalks up three ticks and three misses
A day of contrasts in Serie A with the Fipster model nailing the outcome in half the fixtures but struggling to predict exact scores and BTTS accurately. Palmeiras' emphatic win stands out, while a couple of surprising results kept things lively for the model.
Today’s Serie A action served up a proper mixed bag for the Fipster prediction model, which managed three TICK grades but also stumbled on three MISS calls. So, not quite a masterclass, but enough to keep us interested.
RB Bragantino’s narrow 1-0 win over Gremio was one of the safer bets, with the model correctly calling the outcome and even BTTS status. It missed out on the exact score and halftime call, but we’ll take that one — confidence was appropriate, after all.
Chapecoense-sc’s 1-0 victory against Sao Paulo also earned a TICK. The model got the outcome right and surprisingly nailed halftime correctness too, despite missing on BTTS and over/under predictions. Not bad for a fixture where it predicted a 3-1 scoreline.
Palmeiras’ 4-1 thrashing of Vasco da Gama was another highlight. The model called the winner correctly but was underconfident on the margin and missed BTTS and over/under calls. Still, predicting Palmeiras to win was enough for a TICK.
On the flip side, Coritiba’s 2-1 win over Corinthians caught the model off guard — it expected a Corinthians victory instead. This was one of three MISSes today, alongside Santos drawing with Mirassol and Bahia beating Vitoria, both results defying predictions.
Overall, while exact scores proved elusive across most matches, outcome predictions were solid in half of them. The model showed appropriate confidence levels in most cases but occasionally swung too far either way — over or underconfident — especially when predicting goal tallies.
So no STAR performances today, but three TICKs show there’s something to build on. We’ll file this one under ‘could be worse’ and keep our fingers crossed for more precision next time around.
