Ebere Onuachu and Mohamed Salah turned a bad week for the model into a proper argument

Fipster only found two correct calls in Süper Lig’s fourth round, and both were narrow home wins. The bigger story was elsewhere: Trabzonspor’s front line ran riot, Gaziantep FK and Galatasaray produced the round’s loudest attacking answers, and several of the model’s neat home-win ideas were swept aside by sharper finishing.

The model liked tidy home wins. The round preferred a few hard lessons instead. Two calls landed, seven did not, and the damage was not subtle: several matches that looked manageable on paper were decided by the sort of individual bursts that make a prediction sheet look slightly overconfident in its own handwriting.

Kocaelispor were the one side we read properly

The cleanest hit was Kocaelispor against Samsunspor. Fipster backed the home side, and the match followed the same narrow logic: one goal, no fuss, no need for theatrics. That is exactly where the model looked sensible rather than clever. It did not need to invent a shootout or chase a high-scoring pattern; it simply trusted the stronger home edge and got rewarded when Florian Ayé supplied the only goal. Serhat Öztaşdelen then did his bit at the other end with four saves, which matters because these are the games where one good stop can be worth more than three pages of pre-match optimism.

Trabzonspor was where the numbers got carried away

The miss that stung most was Trabzonspor against Gençlerbirliği S.K. Fipster went for an away win, but that call leaned too heavily on balance and not enough on what happens when a side starts fast and keeps going. Ebere Onuachu scored twice, Mohamed Salah added one from the spot, Ernest Muçi chipped in after that, and Franculino Djú finished the job. Once Trabzonspor had control early, there was no rescue route for the prediction. This was not a case of one freak bounce undoing careful work; it was a case of underestimating how quickly a match can stop being tidy.

The round belonged to players Fipster never called out beforehand

That is where this round really bit. The goals came from names Fipster had not flagged pre-match: Ebere Onuachu, Mohamed Salah, Kacper Kozłowski, Gift Orban, Juan, Lucas Torreira di Pascua, Gabriel Sara, Paulo Victor Osimhen, Eldor Azamat Shomurodov, Milan Škriniar, Rıdvan Yılmaz and Florian Ayé all scored without being part of any called-scorer list in these fixtures. Some of them merely confirmed a result; others changed it completely. Kacper Kozłowski was especially awkward for the model because he did not just score twice for Gaziantep FK — he did so in a game Fipster had expected Göztepe to control. Gift Orban did something similar for Amed by turning a home win forecast into a draw with two goals of his own.

There were also quieter reminders that individual quality can sit underneath an apparently ordinary scoreline. Lucas Torreira di Pascua scored and assisted for Galatasaray in their comeback at Başakşehir; Gabriel Sara added the late winner; Paulo Victor Osimhen opened the door early. That trio gave Galatasaray enough to overturn a home-win forecast without needing any drama beyond competence and timing. Elsewhere, Dušan Vlahović’s winner for Beşiktaş mattered because it arrived in a match Fipster had tipped toward Fenerbahçe at home. One striker doing one striker thing is often all it takes to make a confident call look overfed.

'Next week needs less faith in neat scorelines and more respect for who is actually finishing chances right now.'
