Slovakia’s spot-on scoreline steals the spotlight in a tough day for Fipster
With just one STAR and two TICKs among ten fixtures, today’s Nations League action kept the model on its toes. Slovakia nailed every prediction detail, while Spain and Slovenia earned respectable ticks. Meanwhile, England and several others left Fipster scratching its head. A mixed bag, but we’ll take the lessons.
Slovakia’s 2-1 win over Kazakhstan was the star performance for Fipster today, with the model hitting outcome, exact score, BTTS, and over/under correctly — all despite being underconfident. That’s as close to a perfect call as you can get without a halftime crystal ball.
Spain’s 4-1 victory against Croatia earned a solid TICK. The model got the outcome right and even predicted both teams to score plus the over/under correctly — though it missed on the exact score and halftime prediction. Still, not bad for an underconfident forecast.
Slovenia also secured a TICK with their 2-0 win over FYR Macedonia. Outcome and halftime calls were spot on, even if exact score and BTTS weren’t quite there. Another underconfident call that paid off better than expected.
On the flip side, England’s 2-0 win at Czechia was a miss across the board except for halftime correctness — proving once again that football loves to humble predictions. Similarly, matches like San Marino vs Albania and Scotland vs Switzerland also tripped up the model despite appropriate confidence ratings.
Overall, seven misses out of ten fixtures show there’s still room for improvement. The model struggled especially with exact scores and BTTS calls today but managed to keep its cool on outcomes in a few cases. Confidence ratings ranged from underconfident to appropriate to overconfident — no shortage of variety there either.
So while it wasn’t a day for flawless foresight, we’ll take that one STAR and two TICKs as proof that Fipster still has its moments of glory amid the chaos of Nations League football.
