Dundee’s spot-on prediction steals the show amid a tough day for Fipster
Five Premiership fixtures tested the model’s mettle today, with Dundee’s exact score call shining bright while four other matches left it scratching its head. Confidence was high but accuracy was low, resulting in a mixed bag of results and a modest day grade.
Dundee versus Motherwell was the highlight of the day for our trusty Fipster model. It nailed the outcome, exact score, both teams to score, and over-under predictions — all except halftime correctness. That’s what we call a star performance, and we’ll take that one with a wink.
The other four fixtures proved more challenging. Hibernian and Aberdeen drew 1-1, but the model had predicted an Aberdeen win and missed on outcome and exact score despite getting both teams to score right. Similarly, Kilmarnock versus Heart Of Midlothian ended 1-1 when a Hearts win was forecast; again, only the both teams to score call landed.
St Johnstone against Falkirk also finished 1-1, with the model confidently backing a St Johnstone victory that didn’t materialise. Both teams scored as predicted but outcome and exact score were off target. Meanwhile, St Mirren suffered a surprise 0-3 defeat to Dundee United, completely opposite to the model’s confident prediction of a home win by three goals. This one missed on nearly every count except over-under.
Overall, it was a day where confidence outpaced accuracy — four misses to one star — with the model generally good at spotting both teams scoring but less reliable on outcomes and exact scores. Halftime calls were mostly off too, except for that lone correct guess at Hibernian-Aberdeen.
So there you have it: one sparkling prediction among some humbling near-misses. We’ll chalk this up as a learning day for Fipster and look forward to better fortunes ahead.
