Philadelphia and Montreal deliver the goods while Atlanta and Charlotte keep us guessing
A mixed bag in Major League Soccer today as Fipster nailed two predictions with solid calls on outcomes and BTTS, but also missed the mark twice, including a surprising draw and an unexpected shutout. One fixture was postponed, so we’ll save our crystal ball for another day.
Philadelphia Union showed some firepower with a 4-2 win over Orlando City SC, earning Fipster a well-deserved TICK. The model got the outcome right, predicted both teams to score, and even called the over-under correctly. Halftime prediction was spot on too — we'll take that one.
CF Montreal also earned a TICK with their 3-1 victory against FC Cincinnati. Outcome and BTTS were correct again, along with the over-under, though halftime proved trickier this time. The model played it safe with confidence but still came through nicely.
Atlanta United FC versus New York City FC ended in a 2-2 draw that caught Fipster off guard. The model was overconfident predicting a New York win and missed both outcome and halftime calls, though it did get BTTS and over-under right. Sometimes even the best get humbled.
Charlotte’s narrow 0-1 loss to Chicago Fire was another miss for the model, which had confidently tipped a home win with goals from both sides. No BTTS or over-under points here — just one of those days where the scoreboard defies expectation.
Meanwhile, New York Red Bulls versus St. Louis City was postponed, so no predictions there — we’ll save our insights for when they finally kick off.
Overall, Fipster’s day in MLS was a bit of a rollercoaster: two solid TICKs showing good grasp on outcomes and goal expectations balanced by two misses reminding us that football keeps us humble. No STAR predictions today but plenty to chew on for next time.
