Pardubice were tidy, the clean sheets were not: Czech Liga’s round belonged to the late names

Fipster found two correct scorelines in a round that otherwise leaned away from its pre-match read. Pardubice’s 3-0 win was the neatest hit, but the bigger lesson came from the misses: several games turned on scorers the model did not name, while a couple of the strongest attacking calls simply never got going.

The round was built on one good home read and a lot of expensive silence

Two scorelines landed, five did not, and the pattern was awkwardly clear: Fipster liked goals where there were none, and missed goals where they arrived from elsewhere. Pardubice’s 3-0 win over Zlin was the only result that really matched both outcome and mood. Elsewhere, the model kept reaching for familiar scorers and got punished by new ones, or by matches that simply dried up before anyone could cash in. That is usually how a round gets away from you: not one dramatic collapse, but several small assumptions turning stale at once.

Pardubice’s win made sense because the right idea survived even if the names did not

This was the cleanest call because the model had the broad shape right: Pardubice would control it, score more than once, and lean on attacking support rather than a single isolated finish. The exact scorers were wrong — Václav Drchal, T. Boledovic, Abdoullahi Tanko, Jakub Černín and Daniel Šmiga all drew blanks — but the underlying read held up because Pardubice still produced three different scorers and did so without needing to force the game into a shootout. Marek Icha opened it with Ryan Mahuta involved, Samuel Ďatko added another with Ioannis-Foivos Botos assisting, and Tomáš Jelínek finished it off with Václav Drchal supplying the pass. So yes, the sheet missed every named scorer. It still understood who was likely to have the ball in dangerous places. That matters more than a flattering scoreline would suggest.

The miss that hurts most is Baník Ostrava against Sparta Praha, because nothing happened at all

This was where the model over-weighted Sparta Praha’s scoring profile and treated Baník Ostrava as a side that would eventually have to give way. Instead it became a blank 0-0, which is about as useful to an aggressive away-win forecast as an umbrella in a cellar. Solomon John Mercado Cuero, Adam Karabec and Václav Jurečka never scored because nobody scored; Jakub Surovčík’s steady work in goal mattered more than any of Sparta Praha’s attacking priors. The lesson is plain enough: when a match offers no goals at all, pre-match scoring trends can look very clever right up until they do absolutely nothing.

The round’s real protagonists were mostly not on Fipster’s first list of suspects

The players who actually decided this round were often the ones Fipster had not flagged. Marek Icha and Samuel Ďatko both scored for Pardubice without being called pre-match, while Tomáš Jelínek completed that win after coming off the bench to add his name to the sheet. Matěj Hadaš did something similar for Sigma Olomouc with the only goal against Slovan Liberec; again, no pre-match call had him down as the scorer. On the other side of that ledger, Daniel Vašulín was one of Fipster’s better reads because he did score for Zbrojovka Brno against Slovácko — one of only two called-scorer hits across the whole round — but even there he shared centre stage with Tadeáš Vachoušek and Jocelin Behiratche, neither of whom had been named beforehand.

Christophe Kabongo and Amar Memić also justified their billing for Plzen in Jablonec’s defeat, which at least gave Fipster something concrete to point at amid all the misses. But even that game underlined the wider issue: when you are leaning on named scorers too heavily, you can be half-right on personnel and still be wrong on how a match will actually unfold. The round belonged less to grand attacking patterns than to individual moments from players outside the forecast frame.
