A Day of Near Misses and One Shining Star in Serie A

Serie A's latest round saw the model stumble on four occasions but did manage to nail one perfect prediction, proving that even a broken clock is right twice a day — or at least once.

Today’s Serie A fixtures were a bit of a rollercoaster for the Fipster model, with just one STAR performance out of five matches. The highlight was Internacional versus Corinthians, where the model got everything spot on: outcome, exact score, both teams to score, and over-under predictions all landed perfectly. Even halftime proved elusive, but we’ll take that one with a wink.

On the flip side, Botafogo against Vasco DA Gama was a tough nut to crack. The model confidently predicted a 2-0 home win but ended up with a 1-2 loss instead — an overconfident blunder across all accuracy dimensions. Similarly, RB Bragantino’s draw with Mirassol defied expectations; while the model correctly guessed both teams would score, it missed the mark on outcome and exact score.

Remo and Gremio also played their part in today’s comedy of errors. The model fancied Remo to win 2-1 but had to settle for a 1-1 draw. At least it called both teams scoring correctly — silver linings and all that. Meanwhile, Vitoria’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Chapecoense-sc was completely off-script; the model predicted an away win and no goals from the hosts. Over-under was the only box ticked here.

Overall, it was a day where confidence didn’t quite pay off — four misses and just one star shine. The model showed strength in predicting both teams to score when it mattered but struggled with outcomes and exact scores more often than not. Still, there’s always tomorrow to prove us wrong again.
