A Mixed Bag in Serie A: Two Hits, Two Misses Keep Us on Our Toes
Serie A's latest round served up a couple of spot-on predictions and a couple that had the model reaching for its spectacles. From Mirassol's solid win to Vasco DA Gama's surprising thrashing, the Fipster model had its moments and its misfires.
Today’s Serie A action was a bit of a rollercoaster for the Fipster model, which managed to nail two outcomes but also stumbled twice. The standout correct calls came from Mirassol’s 2-0 victory over Botafogo and Santos edging Remo 2-1. Both matches saw the model correctly predict the outcome, with Santos’ game also getting the BTTS and over-under calls right — not bad at all.
On the flip side, Atletico-MG versus Chapecoense-sc was a tough one for our model. It confidently predicted a 4-1 home win but ended up with a 1-1 draw instead — an overconfident call if ever there was one. Similarly, Vasco DA Gama’s emphatic 5-0 win over Coritiba caught the model off guard, which expected a high-scoring affair but with goals at both ends that never materialised.
Halftime predictions didn’t fare well today, missing the mark across all fixtures. Exact scores were elusive too, though that’s hardly surprising given football’s love of surprises. Still, BTTS and over-under calls showed some promise in select games.
Overall, the day’s tally stands at zero STARs, two TICKs, and two MISSes — enough to keep us humble but hopeful. The model showed appropriate confidence in most cases except for that one overenthusiastic prediction from Atletico-MG’s clash.
