Primeira Liga predictions took a bit of a holiday on matchday 7
Five fixtures, one tick, and four misses — the model’s crystal ball was more foggy than clear today. A lone correct outcome call in Estrela vs Academico Viseu was the highlight amid a sea of surprises, including a Porto win that caught the model napping.
The Primeira Liga threw a few curveballs on matchday 7, leaving our trusty Fipster model with just one tick out of five fixtures. The standout success came in the Estrela versus Academico Viseu clash, where the model correctly predicted the outcome even if the exact scoreline proved elusive.
Elsewhere, things didn’t go quite as planned. Estoril and Casa Pia’s 1-2 result defied expectations, with the model only getting the halftime call right — a small consolation for an otherwise off day. The big surprise was FC Porto’s 3-1 victory over Benfica; despite predicting a Benfica win, the model nailed both BTTS and over-under calls but missed the outcome entirely.
Santa Clara and SC Braga served up a goalless draw that caught the model off guard, which had confidently forecasted a home win. Similarly, Guimaraes and Moreirense ended all square at 1-1, another miss where confidence perhaps got ahead of reality.
Overall, it was a tough day for predictions with only one outcome call landing correctly and most other dimensions slipping through the cracks. Confidence ratings were mostly appropriate except for two overconfident calls that didn’t pay off. We’ll take that single tick as proof that the model still has its moments — just not many today.
