Primeira Liga predictions keep us on our toes with a mixed bag of results
Four fixtures, one postponed, and the model showing a steady hand with two TICKs and a single MISS. Arouca and Nacional delivered on the outcome calls, while Famalicao's surprise defeat to Maritimo caught the model off guard. Confidence levels varied, but the day still earns a solid A-.
Today’s Primeira Liga action served up a bit of everything for the Fipster prediction model. The standout result was Arouca’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Moreirense, where the model correctly called the outcome but underestimated the scoreline and got a few other details wrong — underconfident but not entirely off the mark.
Nacional’s 2-0 win against Estoril also earned a TICK, with the model nailing the outcome and over-under calls despite missing on exact score and halftime predictions. Both these matches show that while the model can pick winners, it sometimes struggles to predict just how convincing those wins will be.
On the flip side, Famalicao’s 1-2 loss to Maritimo was a curveball. The model confidently tipped a home win by two goals but ended up with a MISS on outcome and exact score. At least it got BTTS and over-under right — silver linings in an otherwise misplaced call.
SC Braga versus GIL Vicente was postponed, so no prediction verdict there — we’ll save our judgement for another day.
Overall, two TICKs and one MISS out of three scored matches isn’t too shabby. The model showed some humility with underconfident calls where it should have been bolder, and a touch of overconfidence where caution was warranted.
