Fipster’s mixed bag: a star shines amid a few ticks and a miss
Four Premiership fixtures, four different stories for the model. A perfect scoreline call from Falkirk vs Dundee dazzles, while Dundee Utd’s surprise win over Hibernian leaves the model looking a bit overconfident. Hearts and Rangers brought in solid ticks, rounding out a day of highs and lows.
Today’s Premiership action served up a bit of everything for the Fipster model. The standout moment was definitely Falkirk’s 2-1 victory over Dundee, where the model nailed every detail — outcome, exact score, both teams to score, and over/under — earning itself a shiny STAR grade. Not bad for being underconfident on that one.
Hearts’ 5-0 demolition of St Mirren was well predicted on outcome and BTTS (both correct), though the exact score and over/under calls missed the mark. The halftime prediction didn’t quite hold up either, but overall it earned a respectable TICK.
Rangers also secured a TICK with their 3-1 win against Kilmarnock. The model got the outcome right but missed on exact score, BTTS, over/under, and halftime predictions — still, it was underconfident about this one, so we’ll give it some credit.
On the flip side, Dundee Utd’s narrow 1-0 win over Hibernian caught the model off guard. It predicted a 2-1 away win with confidence but ended up with none of the accuracy flags ticking true — an overconfident MISS that reminds us even models have off days.
All told, with one STAR, two TICKs and one MISS across four fixtures, today’s batch showed that Fipster can shine brightly but isn’t immune to getting its wires crossed. Outcome predictions were mostly solid; exact scores remain tricky as ever. We’ll take that mix as part of the game.
