A day of near misses and one tidy tick in Serie A
Serie A’s latest round saw the model stumble on two draws it fancied differently, but it did nail the outcome in Cruzeiro’s win over Sao Paulo. BTTS predictions were spot on across the board, though exact scores proved elusive.
Today’s Serie A fixtures served up a mixed bag for our trusty Fipster model. The standout moment? Cruzeiro’s 2-0 victory over Sao Paulo, where the model got the outcome right and even predicted both teams to score correctly, earning a respectable TICK. Not bad at all.
However, the model was less fortunate with Atletico Paranaense versus Atletico-MG and Santos against Flamengo. Both matches ended in 2-2 draws, but the model had different scorelines in mind and missed the outcome calls. Still, it did predict both teams would find the net and correctly assessed whether there would be over or under goals — so it wasn’t completely off its game.
Interestingly, halftime predictions didn’t fare well today; none of the fixtures saw that call come through. Confidence ratings varied too, with some overconfidence showing in those missed matches — a reminder that even models can get ahead of themselves.
All told, with zero STARs, one TICK, and two MISSes across three fixtures, it was a day of modest returns for Fipster. But hey, we’ll take that one — especially when BTTS predictions keep us honest.
