A Day of Near Misses and One Shining Star in Serie A

Seven fixtures, one perfect prediction, and six where the model’s crystal ball fogged up a bit. The Fipster model nailed the full house only once, while other calls struggled to find their mark — but hey, at least it got the BTTS calls right more often than not!

Today’s Serie A action was a mixed bag for our trusty Fipster model. Out of seven fixtures, it scored a perfect STAR on just one match: Remo versus Vitoria. The model predicted a 2-0 win for Remo and hit every accuracy dimension right on the nose — outcome, exact score, BTTS, over/under, and halftime correctness all checked out neatly. Confidence rating? Spot on.

The other six matches were less kind to our algorithmic oracle. All ended with a MISS grade despite some partial successes. For instance, Bahia versus Corinthians finished 1-1 with both teams scoring as predicted, but the model had confidently forecasted a 3-1 home win — overconfident indeed. Similar stories unfolded in RB Bragantino vs Coritiba and Flamengo vs Sao Paulo where BTTS predictions landed but exact outcomes did not.

Interestingly, the model tended to overshoot on expected goals (over/under) and halftime outcomes across these misses. Even when it was confident, the final results often defied its forecasts. Palmeiras against Atletico-MG was another close call; the model expected a narrow home win with no goals conceded but instead saw an away victory with goals at both ends.

In summary: one sparkling STAR amidst six MISSes means today’s overall performance was a bit of a reality check for our predictive prowess. At least the BTTS calls gave us some consolation prizes here and there. We’ll take that one and hope for better luck next round.
