Roma's clean sheet saves the day as Fipster splits the Serie A double
Two Serie A fixtures delivered mixed fortunes for the Fipster model on August 24th. AS Roma's convincing 4-0 win over Fiorentina was a solid call, while Lazio's narrow 1-0 victory at Bologna caught the model off guard. Let's unpack where the predictions hit the mark and where they missed.
AS Roma flexed their muscles with a 4-0 thrashing of Fiorentina, and our trusty Fipster model was right on the money with the outcome. It nailed the halftime prediction and correctly anticipated both teams would find the net — well, at least Fiorentina tried, but no goals for them today. The exact score and over-under calls were a bit optimistic though; apparently, Roma fancied a bigger haul than predicted.
Over in Bologna, things didn’t go quite so swimmingly. The model tipped Bologna to edge it at home, but Lazio had other ideas and snatched a 1-0 win instead. While it did get the both-teams-to-score and over-under predictions right (not bad), it fluffed the outcome and halftime calls. Confidence was appropriate, so we can’t blame it too much — even models have off days.
All told, with one tick and one miss from two fixtures, today’s results show that while Fipster’s got an eye for winners, there’s still room to sharpen those finer details. We’ll take that one as a solid start to Serie A’s regular season round 1.
