La Liga’s Fipster model keeps its cool with three solid ticks and one miss
Four fixtures, three ticks, and a lone miss: the Fipster model showed it’s mostly on the money today, nailing outcomes and over-under calls while occasionally missing the exact scoreline or halftime guess.
Atletico Madrid’s 2-1 win over Real Madrid was a neat little tick for the model. It got the outcome right and correctly predicted an over-under scenario, though it missed on the exact score and halftime call. Still, predicting a Real Madrid shutout at four goals to nil might have been optimistic.
Getafe’s narrow 1-0 victory against Malaga also earned a tick. The model nailed the outcome, BTTS (both teams to score), and over-under predictions but again slipped on the exact score and halftime accuracy. Consistency is key, they say.
Valencia versus Real Sociedad was another tick in the box. The model correctly called the outcome, BTTS, over-under, and even got the halftime prediction spot on. A rare clean sweep of accuracy for one fixture — we’ll take that one.
The lone miss came from Deportivo La Coruna’s 1-1 draw with Real Betis. The model expected a home win with more goals but did get BTTS right. Sometimes football likes to keep us guessing — or maybe it just enjoys messing with predictions.
Overall, three ticks out of four isn’t too shabby for La Liga’s seventh round of regular season action. The model showed an appropriate level of confidence throughout, especially in outcome and BTTS calls, while halftime predictions remain a bit of a lottery.
