Eredivisie day leaves Fipster scratching its head with four misses
All four Eredivisie fixtures on October 10th proved tricky for the Fipster model, which failed to nail any outcomes or exact scores. While it did get some BTTS and over-under calls right, confidence was occasionally a tad optimistic. A tough day at the office, but we’ll take the lessons on the chin.
Today’s Eredivisie action was a bit of a puzzle for our beloved Fipster model, which didn’t manage to score a single correct outcome or exact score prediction across all four fixtures. Not exactly the kind of streak you brag about in the pub.
Take Feyenoord versus AZ Alkmaar: a 2-0 win for Feyenoord, but the model fancied AZ to sneak a 3-2 victory. None of the key prediction flags lit up here — no outcome, no exact score, no BTTS, no over-under, not even halftime correctness. Confidence? Just about appropriate, so at least it wasn’t wildly cocky.
Then there was GO Ahead Eagles against Sparta Rotterdam — a thrilling 3-3 draw that saw our model confidently expecting a 4-1 home win. Overconfident indeed. The bright spot? It did correctly predict both teams would score and that the total goals would be over the set line. Halftime prediction? Nope.
Ajax’s stalemate with NEC Nijmegen (1-1) followed a similar pattern: an overly ambitious 4-3 home win forecast that missed on outcome and exact score but got BTTS right again. Over-under slipped through its fingers this time.
Finally, Fortuna Sittard versus Twente ended 1-1 while the model predicted a 2-3 away win with high confidence. It nailed both teams scoring but missed out on outcome and over-under once more — consistency is key, they say.
So what’s the verdict? Four fixtures, zero STARs or TICKs, and plenty of room for improvement. The model showed flashes of insight with BTTS calls but struggled to pin down winners or exact scores today. We’ll chalk this one up as a learning experience and hope for better luck next round.
