Al-Hilal’s goal spree saves the day for Fipster in a tricky Pro League round
Three fixtures, three very different stories for the Fipster model on September 12th. Two misses and one tidy tick, with Al-Hilal Saudi FC’s 6-0 demolition standing out as the model’s highlight despite some overconfidence elsewhere.
The Pro League served up a mixed bag for our beloved Fipster model today. The headline act was definitely Al-Hilal Saudi FC’s emphatic 6-0 win over Al Taawon. While the exact scoreline proved too ambitious to nail, the model did correctly predict the outcome and that both teams would find the net (or at least one would). A solid tick in the box there, with an appropriate confidence rating to boot.
On the flip side, things got a bit more awkward with Al Khaleej Saihat versus Al-Nassr and Al Shabab against Al-Fayha. Both matches ended in draws—1-1 and 0-0 respectively—but our model confidently tipped wins for the home sides. That overconfidence didn’t pay off, missing out on outcome and exact score predictions across the board. At least it correctly guessed that both teams would score in the first fixture, so not all hope was lost.
Overall, it was a day of cautious optimism peppered with a couple of reality checks. The model’s hit rate wasn’t spectacular—just one tick out of three—but that lone success was a memorable one. It seems Fipster still has some work to do on tempering its confidence when faced with tight contests.
