Fipster’s Premier League predictions take a tumble on August 29th
All four Premier League fixtures on the day ended with Fipster missing the mark on the outcome, despite some spot-on halftime and BTTS calls. Confidence was high, but results had other ideas.
Today’s Premier League action was a tough one for the Fipster model, which failed to nail any match outcomes correctly across all four fixtures. The model confidently predicted home wins in every game, but reality had other plans.
On the bright side, Fipster did get some things right: it called halftime results correctly in two matches (Bournemouth vs Everton and Tottenham vs Newcastle) and spotted that both teams would score in three fixtures. So it wasn’t all doom and gloom — just mostly gloom.
The over-under predictions were a mixed bag, with two hits and two misses. Confidence levels were mostly overconfident, which might explain why the model stubbornly stuck to home wins despite the away teams having their say.
Highlights include Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest where Fipster expected a narrow home win, and Tottenham’s 0-2 defeat to Newcastle where even an appropriate confidence rating couldn’t save the prediction from going south.
In summary, it wasn’t Fipster’s finest hour but we’ll take those halftime and BTTS calls as small victories. After all, even a broken clock is right twice a day — though today it was more like zero times out of four.
