Stade Brestois 29 vs Nice: Model's confidence didn't quite pay off
The Fipster model went a bit overboard predicting a Stade Brestois 29 rout, but the actual 1-2 result in favour of Nice had other ideas. A tough day for predictions with only the over-under call getting a nod of approval.
Today's Ligue 1 fixture between Stade Brestois 29 and Nice gave the Fipster model a chance to shine — or so it thought. The model confidently tipped a 4-0 home win, which turned out to be a tad optimistic given the final score was 1-2 in favour of Nice.
Unfortunately, that confidence was misplaced as the outcome prediction missed the mark, along with the exact score and both teams to score calls. The halftime prediction also failed to align with reality, making this one a tough pill to swallow for our trusty algorithm.
On the bright side, at least the model nailed the over-under call, correctly anticipating that total goals would be under the threshold. A small consolation prize when everything else went sideways.
So while today's prediction was decidedly overconfident and ultimately a miss, we’ll take that one on the chin. After all, even the best models have their off days — and this one came with an enthusiastic flourish.
