Ligue 1’s Fipster model finds some footing amid a mixed bag of results
Five Ligue 1 fixtures tested the Fipster prediction model today, which scored two TICKs and three MISSes. Lyon and Paris FC delivered the goods as predicted, while Angers, Le Mans, and Toulouse decided to keep things unpredictable. Confidence remained appropriate throughout, but the exact scores proved elusive once again.
Today’s Ligue 1 action was a bit of a rollercoaster for our trusty Fipster model. While it didn’t quite hit the jackpot with any STAR predictions, it managed to earn two respectable TICKs out of five matches — not bad when half the league seems determined to keep us guessing.
Lyon flexed their muscles with a convincing 4-0 win over Rennes. The model called the outcome correctly and nailed the over-under prediction, though it fell short on the exact score and BTTS (both teams to score). Still, a solid performance that gave us something to smile about.
Paris FC’s narrow 2-1 victory against Strasbourg also earned a TICK. Here, the model got the outcome right, BTTS spot on, over-under correct, and even guessed halftime correctly — a neat little hat trick of accuracy that shows it can still read the room when conditions align.
On the flip side, Angers’ 2-0 win over Estac Troyes was a curveball that left the model scratching its digital head. It missed every accuracy dimension from outcome to halftime prediction. Le Mans and Toulouse followed suit with unexpected wins that also slipped through our model’s fingers like a greased football.
Overall, today’s Ligue 1 round reminded us that football isn’t always predictable — even for an algorithm with appropriate confidence ratings. The model showed strength in calling outcomes and over-under bets when teams performed as expected but struggled with exact scores and BTTS in tighter or surprising matches.
