A Mixed Bag in Eredivisie: Two Hits, Two Misses
The Fipster model had a day of highs and lows across four Eredivisie fixtures. While it nailed the outcomes for Heerenveen vs AZ Alkmaar and ADO Den Haag vs Fortuna Sittard, it stumbled on Groningen vs Twente and Telstar vs Cambuur. Goals were plenty, but so were the surprises.
Today’s Eredivisie action served up a feast of goals and a fair share of prediction puzzles for the Fipster model. The headline result? A couple of solid calls sandwiched between some eyebrow-raising misses.
Heerenveen versus AZ Alkmaar ended 2-3, and the model got the outcome spot on — a reassuring tick in the box. It didn’t quite hit the exact score or other finer details like BTTS or over/under, but calling the winner is half the battle won.
Similarly, ADO Den Haag against Fortuna Sittard finished 2-3 with the model again correctly predicting the outcome and even getting BTTS and over/under right. Plus, it nailed halftime correctness here — a neat little hat-trick of accuracy.
On the flip side, Groningen versus Twente was a 2-2 draw that caught our model out completely on outcome and exact score predictions — it was overconfident in expecting a Twente win. Still, it did predict both teams would score and that there’d be more than two goals, so not all was lost.
Telstar versus Cambuur also ended 2-2 but proved another tough nut to crack. The model missed the outcome again but got BTTS, over/under, and halftime predictions right — so at least it knew goals would flow.
Overall, with zero stars but two ticks and two misses, today’s batch shows our model can call winners when it wants to but still has room for improvement on exact scores and halftime calls. We’ll take those ticks where we can get them.
