Mixed bag in Eredivisie as Fipster nails two but stumbles on the big draws
Four Eredivisie fixtures served up a feast of goals and some eyebrow-raising results for the Fipster model. Two matches earned ticks for correct outcome calls, while the other two slipped through with missed predictions, especially on those lively 2-2 draws.
Today’s highlight was ADO Den Haag versus Groningen, where the model confidently tipped a Groningen win and got it spot on for the outcome. Although it missed the exact scoreline, it correctly predicted both teams would find the net and that the match would be over the goal threshold — not bad for an underconfident call.
Similarly, Twente’s 3-1 victory over PEC Zwolle earned another tick. The model again nailed the outcome and BTTS, plus over-under predictions, despite falling short on the precise score. It seems underconfidence can still produce decent results.
On the flip side, Feyenoord’s home clash with Go Ahead Eagles ended in a 2-2 draw that caught the model off guard. It expected a home win and came up short on outcome and exact score predictions, though it did get BTTS and over-under right. The model was a bit too confident here — lesson learned.
Ajax versus Heerenveen also finished 2-2, another surprise for our trusty predictor. Outcome and exact score were missed again, but BTTS and over-under calls stayed accurate. This time confidence was appropriate but still no dice on getting it right.
Overall, no star performances today but two solid ticks show the model had its moments. BTTS and over-under predictions were reliable across all games — at least we’re consistent there! With four fixtures producing two hits and two misses, it’s fair to say Fipster kept us entertained without quite stealing the show.
