Czech Liga’s Fipster model finds the day a tough nut to crack
Two fixtures, two draws, and zero prediction wins for Fipster on October 24th. Confidence was high but results had other ideas, leaving the model with a couple of misses and a day grade of D-.
October 24th in the Czech Liga was a bit of a reality check for the Fipster prediction model. Neither Slavia Praha versus Mlada Boleslav nor Zlin against Sigma Olomouc went according to plan. Both matches ended in draws, but the model was confidently expecting something else — and it showed.
Starting with Slavia Praha and Mlada Boleslav, the model predicted a commanding 4-0 win for Slavia. Instead, it was a 1-1 draw. Not a single prediction dimension landed correctly: outcome, exact score, BTTS (both teams to score), over/under goals, and halftime call all missed the mark. The model was overconfident here — perhaps dreaming of fireworks that never came.
Zlin versus Sigma Olomouc offered slightly more solace with the model correctly predicting both teams would find the net. Unfortunately, that’s where the accuracy stopped. The expected outcome and exact score were off; halftime and over/under predictions didn’t hold up either. Another overconfident call from Fipster that day.
The postponed fixture between Slovan Liberec and Baník Ostrava didn’t factor into today’s grade but did leave us wondering what might have been.
Overall, no STAR or TICK grades to celebrate — just two MISS marks reminding us that even models can have an off day. The confidence ratings suggest Fipster was quite sure of itself, which only makes these misses more entertaining in hindsight. We’ll take this one on the chin and hope for better luck next round.
