Fipster’s crystal ball foggy in UEFA Europa Conference League action

Two fixtures, two misses — the model's predictions didn’t quite hit the mark today, but at least it got one over-under call right. Confidence was high, results were not.

Today’s UEFA Europa Conference League fixtures served up a bit of a reality check for our beloved Fipster model. Both matches ended with results that caught it off guard, leading to a pair of misses on the day. Not exactly the kind of performance to write home about, but hey, even the best get their wires crossed sometimes.

First up, Apollon Limassol versus Brann finished 1-2, despite the model confidently predicting a 3-0 home win. It nailed the over-under call (there were more than 2.5 goals), so we’ll give it a small pat on the back there. However, outcome, exact score, BTTS and halftime predictions all missed the target — and it was overconfident to boot.

Then CSKA 1948 and Panathinaikos played out a 1-1 draw that our model didn’t see coming either. It predicted a narrow home win by 1-0 but missed every accuracy dimension: outcome, exact score, BTTS, over-under and halftime calls all fell flat. At least its confidence rating was appropriate this time — modesty is something.

With no stars or ticks today and two misses under its belt, Fipster’s record stands at 0 STAR · 0 TICK · 2 MISS for this round of qualifying. The model struggled particularly with outcome and BTTS predictions but showed some promise on over-under in one fixture. We’ll take that one as a learning opportunity rather than a disaster.
