Mixed fortunes in Süper Lig as Fipster nails two but stumbles twice
Four fixtures, four different stories for the Fipster model: two solid hits and a couple of misses kept things interesting on matchday five of the Süper Lig regular season.
The day kicked off with a bit of a reality check as Alanyaspor and Göztepe served up a 2-2 draw. Our model was spot on with both BTTS and over-under calls, but it missed the outcome and exact score. Halftime prediction? Also off the mark. A classic case of getting some bits right while missing the bigger picture.
Eyüpspor versus Rizespor was a more comfortable outing for Fipster. The model correctly predicted the away win and got all the key dimensions right, including halftime and BTTS. Confidence rating was appropriate, so we’ll take that one as a neat little tick in the box.
Konyaspor’s narrow 1-0 victory over Trabzonspor caught our model napping. None of the prediction dimensions landed here — outcome, exact score, BTTS, over-under, or halftime were all off. Confidence was appropriate, but this one will sting a bit in the analytics department.
Finally, Samsunspor’s heavy 1-5 defeat to Çorum FK was better forecasted than you might expect. The model called the outcome correctly and nailed BTTS plus over-under, though halftime prediction slipped through. Interestingly, it was underconfident here — sometimes even Fipster gets surprised by a goal glut.
Overall, today’s batch saw two TICKs and two MISSes with no STAR performances to boast about. The model showed strength in predicting whether both teams would score and total goals going over or under the line but struggled more with exact scores and halftime outcomes. A mixed bag that keeps us humble — but hey, that’s football (and modelling) for you.
