Süper Lig surprises leave Fipster scratching its head on September 7
Two fixtures, two misses for the model as Gaziantep FK and Alanyaspor both defied predictions. While it nailed both BTTS and over/under calls, outcome and halftime predictions were off the mark, resulting in a tough day for Fipster.
Today’s Süper Lig action served up a couple of unexpected twists that left our trusty Fipster model a bit out of sorts. Neither fixture went the way it forecasted, with both Göztepe vs Gaziantep FK and Rizespor vs Alanyaspor ending in results opposite to those predicted.
In Göztepe’s clash with Gaziantep FK, the model expected a home win by 2-1 but instead saw a 2-4 defeat. Despite missing the outcome and exact score, it did correctly call that both teams would find the net and that the total goals would be over the set threshold. The halftime prediction, however, was off.
Similarly, Rizespor’s encounter with Alanyaspor didn’t go according to plan. The model tipped a 2-0 home victory but was proven wrong by a narrow 0-1 loss. Again, BTTS and over/under predictions hit their marks while outcome and halftime calls missed the target.
Both matches shared an “appropriate” confidence rating from Fipster — so no complaints there — but today’s results remind us that football keeps us humble. The model showed consistency in predicting goal-scoring patterns but struggled with final outcomes and halftime snapshots.
With zero STAR or TICK grades and two MISSes on the board, it’s safe to say this wasn’t Fipster’s finest hour. Still, we’ll take those BTTS and over-under wins where we can get them. Onwards and upwards!
