Fipster’s crystal ball foggy on Premiership day: three misses and counting
All three Premiership fixtures on September 15th defied Fipster’s predictions, with the model missing the mark on outcomes and exact scores despite getting some BTTS and over/under calls right. Confidence was high but results were not.
Today’s Premiership action was a tough one for the Fipster model, which came away empty-handed in terms of correct outcome predictions. All three fixtures ended with results that caught the model off guard, leading to a clean sweep of misses.
Take Falkirk versus Heart Of Midlothian: the model confidently tipped an away win, but Falkirk held firm to claim a 2-1 victory. While it missed the outcome and exact score, it did correctly call both teams would find the net and that the match would go over the predicted goal line — so not all was lost.
Similarly, Hibernian’s home defeat to Kilmarnock (0-1) was another surprise. The model had expected a home win by two goals, but instead got overconfident and saw its prediction unravel. Again, it nailed both teams scoring and over/under bets — if only those counted for points.
The Motherwell versus Aberdeen game was a proper shocker for Fipster. Predicting a narrow home win, it instead witnessed a 4-0 thrashing. The model’s confidence rating was appropriate here, but it failed to foresee the scale of Aberdeen’s dominance. At least it correctly anticipated both teams would score — though they didn’t in this case — so that call flopped too.
Overall, today’s batch of fixtures showed Fipster’s confidence outpacing its accuracy. The model struggled particularly with outcome and exact score predictions while showing some consistency in BTTS and over/under calls — if only those were enough to save the day.
With zero STARs or TICKs and three MISSes, it’s safe to say Fipster will be going back to the drawing board after this round of Premiership matches.
