Kilmarnock 0-4 Dundee Utd: Model’s confidence didn’t quite match the scoreline

The Fipster model predicted a Kilmarnock win but Dundee Utd ran riot instead. A tough day for the algorithm, which nailed only the both-teams-to-score call and missed on outcome, exact score, halftime, and over/under predictions.

Today’s Premiership action was a bit of a reality check for the Fipster model. It confidently tipped Kilmarnock to take the three points with a 2-0 prediction, but Dundee Utd had other ideas and stormed to a 4-0 victory. So much for playing it safe.

The model did get one thing right: both teams scoring was off the table, which it correctly flagged. However, that’s about where the good news ends. Outcome? Wrong. Exact score? No chance. Halftime prediction? Also missed. Over/under goals? Not even close.

Interestingly, the model was overconfident in its calls today — perhaps it should have dialled down the certainty a notch or two before this one kicked off. Confidence is great, but only when backed up by results.

So, no stars or ticks today — just one miss to add to the record. We’ll take that one on the chin and hope for better luck next time around.
