Dundee Utd and Rangers share spoils, Fipster left a bit offside
A 1-1 draw between Dundee Utd and Rangers proved a tricky nut for the model to crack, resulting in a rare miss despite nailing the both-teams-to-score call. Confidence was high, but the exact outcome slipped through the net.
Today’s lone Premiership fixture saw Dundee Utd and Rangers settle for a 1-1 draw, leaving our trusty Fipster model with a bit of explaining to do. The prediction tipped Dundee Utd to edge it 2-1, so calling the exact score and outcome was unfortunately off target.
On the bright side, the model did correctly foresee that both teams would find the net — so at least it got that part right. However, it missed on predicting whether the total goals would be over or under the line, as well as the halftime result. Not exactly a clean sheet of accuracy today.
Interestingly, confidence was marked as “overconfident,” which might explain why the model stuck its neck out with a home win prediction. Sometimes even our clever algorithms need to remember that football can be as unpredictable as British weather.
So, no stars or ticks on this occasion — just one miss to add to the ledger. We’ll take it on the chin and hope for better luck next time around.
