Heerenveen’s four-goal blitz leaves Fipster’s prediction in the dust
The model fancied a tight game with Excelsior edging it 3-1, but Heerenveen had other ideas, cruising to a 4-0 win. Confidence was high, but accuracy? Not so much.
Today’s Eredivisie action was a bit of a reality check for the Fipster model. It predicted an away win for Excelsior by three goals to one, but instead Heerenveen put on a goal-scoring clinic to win 4-0. So much for the model’s confidence.
Breaking down the prediction accuracy: the outcome was off, the exact score was way out, and it didn’t even get both teams to score right — no BTTS today. The halftime call missed the mark too. The only silver lining? The over-under prediction was spot on, so at least the model knew there’d be plenty of goals.
Confidence rating? Overconfident, as it turned out. Sometimes even the best algorithms need a reminder that football isn’t always predictable — especially when Heerenveen decide to throw a party.
So that’s one fixture today and one miss on the record. We’ll take this one on the chin and hope for better luck next time around.
