Heerenveen’s narrow win saves the day for Fipster in Eredivisie
A tough day for the model with just one tick and three misses across four Eredivisie fixtures. The lone bright spot? Heerenveen’s 1-0 victory over Twente, where the model got the outcome right despite underestimating it.
Today’s Eredivisie action was a bit of a mixed bag for our trusty Fipster model. The highlight came from Heerenveen’s 1-0 win against Twente, where the model scored a "TICK" by correctly predicting the outcome and halftime result, even if it was a tad underconfident about it. Not bad at all — we’ll take that one.
The other three fixtures didn’t go so well. Sparta Rotterdam versus Feyenoord ended 0-1, but the model called a 1-1 draw and missed on outcome, exact score, BTTS, and halftime predictions. At least it nailed the over/under call — small mercies.
Groningen’s 2-1 victory over Utrecht also caught the model off guard. It predicted a 1-1 draw again, missing outcome and exact score but correctly calling both teams to score. So not all lost there.
Ajax’s comfortable 2-0 win at PEC Zwolle was another miss. The model expected Zwolle to edge it 2-1, getting only the halftime prediction right this time around. Confidence was appropriate but clearly misplaced.
Overall, today’s record stands at zero stars, one tick, and three misses — not quite the masterclass we hoped for. The model tended to struggle with exact scores and outcomes but showed some consistency in halftime calls and BTTS predictions here and there.
