A Goal Fest and a Reality Check in Czech Liga
The model had a mixed day with one solid call, a couple of misses, and a 10-goal thriller that no one saw coming. Confidence was tested, and the scoreboard certainly kept us on our toes.
Today’s Czech Liga action served up a real rollercoaster for the prediction model. The standout fixture was Mlada Boleslav’s 2-0 victory over Sparta Praha, where the model got the outcome right but missed the exact scoreline and other finer details. It called for a close game but underestimated Sparta’s resistance, resulting in an underconfident rating that still earned a respectable tick.
Then came the goal bonanza between Teplice and Plzen, ending in a wild 5-5 draw. The model was way off here, predicting a modest 2-1 win for Teplice. Despite nailing both BTTS and over/under correctly (credit where it’s due), it completely missed the outcome and exact score, showing signs of overconfidence. Clearly, this match had other plans.
Finally, Zlin’s 0-2 loss to Bohemians 1905 was another miss. The model confidently tipped Zlin to win 2-1 but was left holding its hat as Bohemians took all three points. None of the prediction dimensions landed here, though at least the confidence rating was appropriate — sometimes it’s better to be cautious.
Overall, it was a day of highs and lows for Fipster: one tick, two misses, no stars. The model showed strength in spotting when both teams would score and whether games would be high-scoring or not — just not always who’d come out on top or by how much. We’ll take that one as part of the learning curve.
