Zbrojovka Brno and Teplice Deliver the Goods, But Model Stumbles on Plzen and Zlin
A mixed bag in the Czech Liga today as Fipster nailed two outcomes but missed two, including a surprise win for Slovan Liberec at Plzen. The model showed confidence where it counted and some humility where it didn’t.
Today’s Czech Liga action gave us a bit of everything: from solid calls to head-scratchers. The standout positive was the model’s correct outcome predictions for Zbrojovka Brno’s 3-1 victory over Sparta Praha and Teplice’s identical 3-1 win against Bohemians 1905. Both matches saw the model get the outcome, BTTS, and over/under right, though exact scores remained elusive — perfection is overrated anyway.
On the flip side, Plzen’s unexpected 1-3 loss to Slovan Liberec caught the model off guard. It confidently predicted a home win but ended up with a miss on outcome and exact score, despite correctly calling both teams to score and the over/under. Confidence can be a double-edged sword, it seems.
Similarly, Zlin’s narrow 0-1 defeat by Baník Ostrava was another miss. Here, the model got outfoxed on nearly every front except halftime prediction — a lone bright spot in an otherwise gloomy forecast. No goals from Zlin meant BTTS and over/under calls were off target.
Overall, Fipster managed two ticks and two misses today with no stars to boast about. The model showed appropriate confidence in some fixtures and underconfidence in others, proving that even algorithms have their off days. Still, we’ll take those two correct outcome calls as evidence that all is not lost.
