Wolves and Portsmouth share the spoils, but Fipster misses the mark
A 1-1 draw between Wolves and Portsmouth proved a tricky puzzle for our model, which got some calls right but ultimately missed the outcome prediction. Let's unpack where it hit and where it slipped today.
Today’s lone Championship fixture saw Wolves and Portsmouth settle for a 1-1 draw. Our trusty Fipster model was confident Wolves would edge it at home, predicting a 1-0 win, but alas, the actual result had other ideas. Outcome and exact score predictions were off the pace — no points there.
However, not all was lost. The model did correctly foresee that both teams wouldn’t both find the net (BTTS was incorrect), and it nailed the over/under goals call as well as the halftime prediction. So it wasn’t completely in the doghouse — just mostly.
Confidence rating was "appropriate," which is a polite way of saying the model didn’t overreach despite missing the main call. We’ll take that one with a wink.
With only one fixture on today’s docket, there wasn’t much room for redemption. The day ends with a solitary miss on record and a self-imposed grade of D-. Plenty of room to sharpen those claws for next time.
Day grade: D-
