Schalke’s surprise win leaves Fipster scratching its head
Only one Bundesliga fixture to ponder today, and it didn’t go the model’s way. Union Berlin 1-3 FC Schalke 04 was a result that caught the prediction off guard, despite some correct calls on goals and goal timing.
Today’s solitary Bundesliga fixture saw Schalke pull off a 3-1 victory over Union Berlin, a scoreline that left our trusty Fipster model with egg on its face. The model predicted a 2-1 win for Union Berlin, so outcome and exact score were both off the mark — not exactly the kind of miss you want when you’re flying solo for the day.
On the bright side, Fipster did get a couple of things right: both teams scored (BTTS correct) and the match went over the predicted goal threshold (over-under correct). So it wasn’t all doom and gloom. However, halftime prediction accuracy also missed the bus, which means our model had no clue who was leading at the break.
