Mixed fortunes in Allsvenskan as model nails one, fluffs another
Three fixtures, three different grades for the Fipster model: a perfect prediction for IFK Goteborg vs AIK Stockholm, a solid call on Kalmar FF's win over Orgryte IS, and a miss in the Elfsborg-Hammarby clash. BTTS and over/under calls mostly on point, but exact scores proved tricky.
Today's Allsvenskan round served up a mixed bag for our trusty Fipster model. The standout was definitely the spot-on forecast for IFK Goteborg's 1-2 loss to AIK Stockholm. Not only did the model get the outcome right, it also nailed the exact scoreline, both teams scoring, halftime result, and over/under predictions — a full house of correctness that earns it a well-deserved STAR grade.
Kalmar FF's 3-0 victory over Orgryte IS brought a TICK to the model’s ledger. It correctly predicted the outcome and halftime result, along with the over/under call. However, it missed on both exact score and BTTS since Orgryte kept their sheet clean. Still, an appropriate confidence rating means we’ll take that one.
Then there was the Elfsborg versus Hammarby FF fixture where our model got its wires crossed. Predicting a 2-1 home win when Hammarby actually triumphed 2-1 away led to a MISS grade. On the bright side, it did correctly foresee both teams scoring and called the over/under right — just not who would be celebrating at full time or halftime.
Overall, with one STAR, one TICK and one MISS across three fixtures, today’s performance was respectable if not flawless. The model showed strength in predicting outcomes and goal-scoring patterns but still has room to sharpen its exact score instincts. Confidence ratings remained appropriate throughout — no wild guesses here.
